Elixir 3 pad pins

In a freak pliers incident changing brake pads, my pad pin circlips flew off into the dark recesses of floorboard cracks in my garage. The brakes are Avid Elixir 3. I just want to order a few spare cir clips for the end of the pad pins - does anyone know what size I need to get?

Hmm, no mention of what size is needed on that thread, just people finding other ways round it, or not bothering. I'd rather buy a few spare circlips and run with that. Anyone know what size I need?

I got 2.3 mm they fit but are tight to get on maybe try the next size up

appreciate the kind offer but bought a few different sizes from eBay now, about 30p each, some 2.3mm and some 3.2mm

Replace the pin with a 3mm split pin.

why would i do that now i've bought a few replacement circlips?

The circlips are so easy to loose and awkward to fit and remove. Most brakes use a split pin.

The circlips aren't needed.

you may be right but I can't help feeling happier they are back on... £1.50 for 4 circlips, The 3.2mm's go on without much trouble.
