I've noticed that the teeth on my jockey wheels are pretty worn down.
I was wondering if it's recommended to replace the jockey wheels, or if it would be easier to get a new derailer?
If I was the replace the jockey wheels, should I replace the, with plastic or metal ones?? Which are the best ones to fit a Shimano 105 derailer?
Cheers!!

No you dont need to replace the rear derailleur. These will be fine http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Shimano-105-J ... 486822a641

There really is no 'best' when it comes to jockey wheels. Metal wheels are marginally lighter, look bling and dont hold as much dirt/grime but thats about it. You will not notice any difference on the bike between cheaper plastic or expensive metal ones with ceramic bearings etc.

Which ever you choose make sure the number of teeth match your current jockey wheels, so 10,11,12 or 13t

I always replace the originals by Tacx wheels, run better with the ball bearings, less maintenance.

You "maintain" jockey wheels? Wow. The originals will probably have plain bearings which require the occasional degrease and drop of lubricant. And will probably last significantly longer than fancy ball bearings that get filled with grit. And the "better running" will be absolutely un-noticeable to the rider. IMO and IME.

    Well mister smartass take this:
Those "fancy ballbearings" are filled with nothing but grease as the are sealed, so no maintenance is less than occasional degrease and lubrication. Point 1 for me
Original jockey wheels do make noise as they are running dry which happens every few weeks or so.
Doesnt happen with Tacx wheels, the run silent until they wear out.(takes at least 20000 kms) Point 2 for me
One of the very few aftermarket products which are better than the originals, good prices too.
Jump high or low, they are better.
