You're quite right, my thread title was a typo. Sram it is. Thanks.

So many people say Es-Ram, I wonder if it was confusion with es-works. And its mostly good stuff btw.
  • People say ES-RAM because they are used to D-RAM etc from computing

    Really

I doubt that enough people are familiar enough with the different types of RAM memory to link the pronounciation to cycling kit.

Besides DRAM is a tot of whisky and D-RAM is another tot of whisky after the previous 8 tots of whisky (and the D is softly spoken).

And Cinelli is chin-elly, Bianchi is bian-key and Campagnolo is ace.

It's just a hill. Get over it.

  • It's pronounced Campag.

    It's pronounced Campag.

    FTFY.
    Its full name is Cam-pan-yolo.
The short form is, of course, Campag.
Unless you are surrounded by Shimano-ists, in which case it's"The Italian manufacturer"

It's just a hill. Get over it.

Took me a few years to realise " Allez " has a silent z.

People were too polite to correct me.

I like how he really rolls the r's in Carrera. Only a Italian could make that sound.

I wouldn't worry about it OP - I thought it was S Ram for a while...I think it might be due to the fact that there are extremely few words in the English language that start with 'sr...', sram just doesn't sound right.

How about Schwalbe? I've got several pairs of them and no idea how to pronounce it correctly.
