Hi,
I have a 2008 boardman pro hard tail. All the components are in good condition as they haven't had much use. Reason for little use is I have never got on with the geometry of the frame and as winters coming around I want to get out and ride. The plan is to buy a new frame and transfer all the components on to that.
Is there anything specific I need to look out for when buying new frame? Compatibility issues etc?!
Also I haven't got a big budget (£150-200) any recommdations as to what frame I should get?
Cheers
Tom

What is wrong with the geometry and what do you want to fix about it? The Boardman will have XC to Trail components and most XC to Trail frames will have similar Geo.
You need to confirm what BB you have (threaded or press fit), size of seat tube for front mech, seatpost and clamp, also headtube fitment for the headset.Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0 -
And steerer length.I don't do smileys.

Hi Tom,
What you are asking is very open ended, you need to explain why you don't get on with your current frame. Is it too big, is it too small? Is it too long or too short? What are you hoping to get out of changing the frame? What kind of riding do you do? It may just be something as simple as turning the bars, moving the seat forwards/backwards or a change of stem length or longer/shorter bars. Any of these changes will alter the way the bike feels, but you really need to explain what you want out of it rather than just plump for a frame change.
Kind Regards

Hi ,sorry i haven't included enough info.Basically the reach has always felt to long and too harsh. I have tried various different stem lengths etc but it still doesn't feel as tight and confidence inspiring as my stump jumper. Its an 18inch frame and I'm 5'9 so it should be ok but i really have never got on with it. I will have to get all the information like steerer size when I'm with the bike at the weekend. I do a lot of single track riding etc, reasonably technical. Another reason why i want to change frame is the huge scratch i made when fell off in Wales.
I was looking at the On One inbred 26er. Is it steel? anyone had any experience?0 -
Have you tried swapping the seatpost, I think the Boardmans come with a setback, going to an inline shortens the cockpit by the same amount as going down a frame size (about 25mm).Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0

Which stumpy and size? maybe we can compare the geo.0 -
I believe the original stem was relatively long at aound 110 mm , bars 680 with not a lot of rise. Personal I know but on my bike a carbon version with same geo a change to a 70 mm stem and 720 easton bar totally transformedcthe bike. You also say it feels harsh , simple front shock or even tyres can alter that.0
