Have just had my forks upgrade to carbon my Giant Defy5. However on a smooth road surface no vibrasion or rattle is heard on the front wheel but when the road is rougher vibrasion and some rattle is felt and heard from the front wheel. I have checked all the spokes but none seem to be loose. Tyre pressure is 100psi. Any help in identifying the problem would be help full.

    Any play in the headset?

Sometimes the brake/Gearing cables rub of a frame and cause a rattle or vibration on rough roads.

Check to see if they do and if they have any protection when touching the frame. This was causing it on my frame and tried all the above headset, spokes etc before realising it was this. I added some foam around the two cables and than taped over the foam.

As the front end of the bike has been disturbed to fit the new forks I'd check that the headset is adjusted correctly, might need nipping up a touch. Also check the security of the brake caliper mounting and the wheel hub/skewer. As already mention check the routing of the control cables, failing that it could be a problem with the new fork, is it a genuine Giant part or third part?

If you can't resolve the problem yourself go back to the shop that carried out the work and get them to check it over.
