Carerra Virtuoso with mud guards

What's the bloody point of selling a bike with the selling point of taking mudguards, when I have 23c GT4000s tyres on the bike and it won't bloody take the mud guards I bought (SKS Velo 42 Urban)? There is no clearance between the tyre, to the point I can't move the wheel.
Is this simply a very thick guard, and if so, is there a thinner one that will fit on here, or am I banishing the bike to the garage soon on the turbo in favour of the runabout bike to get to work now?

I think the problem maybe that the mudguards are to wide for the frame/forks, you would probably have been better with SKS P35mm wide. Are you saying that you cannot get enough vertical clearance above the tyres because the edge of the mudguard is fouling the frame/forks?
There is usually some built in adjustment due to the length of the support stays and the slotted hole in the fork/bridge mounting bracket, to set the mudguards to the required clearance.

As above try the sks chromoplastic p35, also the gp4000s tyres come up very big I cant get enough clearance under my guards with them I run the gp4 seasons instead.0
