i asked him why campag wheels have got novatech hubs-heres his reply-
Hi,
Some Campagnolo wheels do have a normal carbon fibre hub - normally found in the Bora Ultra 35 wheelset range. This wheelset is the highest spec and the Novatec hub provide the very best degree of lateral and torsional stiffness and the choice of pros.
Feel free to ask anything else about the wheelset. Genuine sale.
Regards.

Genuine Campag must have the most distinctive rear wheel spoke arrangement ever. If you were going to fake a wheel you would at least make it look similar or choose a less distinctive brand.
Torsional stiffness? WTF I don't even think Segan or Greipel could produce enough torque to cause a hub to twist.
But in my opinion eBay probably doesn't care as long as the seller is giving them money for advertising. Is ebay going to turn away money?"The Prince of Wales is now the King of France" - Calton Kirby0 -

Be careful of what you're typing. For your info, I'm Chinese.
I asked him this question after I reported the listing:"Are these genuine Campag Bora Ultra wheels? The reason I ask, is that they have Novatec hubs, which is very odd. Campag wheels come with Campag hubs, yes?"
His reply:Hi,
Yes, genuine Campagnolo Bora Ultra 80 wheelset. The Bora Ultra 35 have a carbon fibre hub but these bora Ultra 80 have higher spec Novatec hubs for greater / higher degree of lateral and torsional stiffness. The CULT cup and cone bearings are as standard.

Going to ask him some more questions, as I could do with a laugh.0 -

He knows you've all rumbled him as he's ended the listing.
And them promptly relisted them!
Suggest we plague him with questions - or even keep buying them and not paying as he can't do a thing about it.0 -

Is it just my impression or Ebay has gone down a lot? I no longer trust anything valuable on there... it seems scammers have an easy life and items I reported as fake got sold no problem a few days later.

I very rarely use Ebay for another that is over about £35 or so. I just buy random bits and bobs from there, as that is all it is good for IMO.0 -
I was looking at interconnect cables the other day for my Hifi, I have quite a good knowledge of a particular make (Siltech) and sure enough, there's fakes of those being sold on eBay and people buying them. There's more fakes than genuine ones in fact!Insta: ATEnduranceCoaching

Ebay went downhill when it's focus shifted from being a place to flog second hand stuff to trying to be a proper Ecommerce platform.
Most things you search for result in 90% "buy it nows" at near retail price and very few actual good deals.
plus their commission fees are ridiculous now.0 -
I've never purchased anything off Ebay, is there something wrong with me? :?0
-
Ebay has been full of fakes for years and years, I used to collect, buy and sell trainers (specific brands) but the influx of fakes killed it off.
Ebay claim to have a 'vero' program where they work to remove fakes, but they only actually do anything if the genuine brand itself complains.
It's still handy to pick certain things up, but the days of getting awesome second hand bargains have long gone.0 -
It's easy enough to use the filters on Ebay to cut out the results from the scammers and forgers. Selecting UK results only will get rid of most of them, then look for original photos and use your loaf.0

Not true. There's loads of great bargains still to be had. At random, recently I picked up brand new Super Record brakes for little over £100, a hardly used copper rail Brooks Professional saddle for £60 and a NOS pair of 1980s Shimano 105 SLR brake levers for less than £10 posted. Other stuff may cost more than it once did but without Ebay a lot of it simply wouldn't be available at all.Faster than a tent.......0 -

Unfortunately Ebay allows the use of those softwares that bid for you at the last second... it's very annoying as a seller, as it drives down the price... basically everyone waits for the last hour to place their bids... a week of auction for an hour of bidding. Last time I put a period and extremely rare Mavic hub on Ebay in almost mint conditions it went for 10 pounds... never again!left the forum March 20230
