Moan about Evans Cycles

I recenly bought a pair of Giro Cycling shoes from Evans, wore them around the house for a few days, before taking them out on the bike. Within 15 miles my feet were in absolute agony, so I returned them to Evans. and got the following reply. They had them 4 days before I got the following reply:
After speaking with the returns team I have been informed that we are unable to exchange or refund the shoes that you have sent back to be returned based on the condition that they have been returned in. They have been returned clearly worn and dirty in a condition we would be unable to resell them in.
The only marks were the bolts at the front which had some scuffs after walking from the Garage to the House. I explained this and asked for them to swap the bolts with any replacements.
Now I'm getting a pair of shoes returned to me that I can't use????
What can I do?

Seriously what were you expecting, you tried them on, you bought them, you fixed cleats, you wore them on a ride, how is it Evans responsibility?0
-
Seems like your fault, not theirs. Don't try and tarnish their name. You should've tried them on properly. If you had worn them around the house before fitting cleats / wearing outside you'd have found out of they were uncomfortable.
Sell them and chalk it up to experience.0 -

While I can understand that it is rather inconvenient that you can not return them, you can only return goods that are in pristine condition. You can tell from trying the shoes on whether they are going to be comfortable or not, before ever fitting cleats. Perhaps try some insoles in them to see if that helps.
How exactly were they uncomfortable? Simply too tight? Bad shape for the feet? Not enough support in certain areas?0 -
This is like saying; you bought a pack of condoms and tried them out, but only for a bit. You found they didn't fit you well, so you want to send them back for a full refund. Sure, they've been used, but only for a bit and if the retailer cleans them up, they'll be just fine to sell on again and the buyer won't mind.

Whilst I don't think Evans have done anything wrong and shoes worn outside even for a short time probably shouldn't be returned, it's really not just like saying thatwww.conjunctivitis.com - a site for sore eyes0 -
Unless he inserted his cøck into the shoes - obviously.0

Bet the OP would not be buying shoes in the condition he was trying to return them in lol.
He sounds more like the type of person who would expect a discount if they were the display pair, yet alone if they were pre owned :shock:0 -

OP, is there anyway of deleting your own post?
You cant really be serious can you?0 -
I work for a well known purveyor of cycle equipment. Some time back, a total bell end purchased a pair of Giro cycle shoes.
Four days later he returns said shoes, saying that he had been out for a ride and found them uncomfortable. The shoes showed obvious signs of wear and tear and were dirty. I immediately agreed to take back the now second hand shoes to pass off as new to some unsuspecting mug.
I explained to Mr Bellend that I would scour the classifieds to source a pair of worn shoes of the correct size for him as he appeared to be ok with the concept of paying new price for second hand goods. In this regard, he would seem to be a valuable future customer.
I wonder if he would be interested in a pair of ‘brand new’ shorts that have only been worn once and therefore only have slight skidmarks? I know where there is just such a pair, I wonder...0 -
Talk about a coincidence, I too bought cycling shoes from Evans which turned out less than comfortable. I took them out for a ride and decided to return them. I include a picture of them immediately before setting off to go back to Evans. Im absolutely appalled that Evans wouldn't take them back and wont be shopping there again. :xThis serious internet site..............I serious cat0 -

Probably sat there writing an ad for the classifieds, quietly seething that he didn't carry any support for bitching about Evans.
He may even charge a small premium for the privilege of breaking them in0 -
in case this isn't a windup here is Evans returns policy:
At Evans Cycles our priority is to ensure that you are highly satisfied with your purchase. In the unlikely event that you are not, please feel free to return your goods within 90 days of the purchase date for a full exchange or refund.
Any item including bikes (but with the exception of food, videos, DVD’s, face masks, RideIt! events and software) can be returned to us for any reason provided it has not been used or fitted and is returned in its original packaging and with a valid proof of purchase.
Unfortunately its in black and white - I've had the same with running shoes that were comfy on short runs i.e in the shop but kept giving me blisters on long runs over 5k after about 50k trying to bed them in I ended up binning them and putting it down to bad luck.0 -
A while ago there were a few threads from disgruntled Evans customers who had received goods that had been used or were dirty. So maybe the OP has heard that with Evans you can try stuff out and send it back because they dont bother checking anything when its returned. They have obviously tightened up their act, quite rightly.Pegoretti
