Hi all

Had bike a week and when cleaning I noticed a paint imperfection on the rear chainstay.

About a few mm wide and looks a bit like the paint finish causing a small bubble/mark. Doesn't seem to be the carbon structure.

Can this be quite normal for some frames and paint jobs?

Thanks

    sorry, sidetracked.

Had a decent enough response from the bike shop regarding the foil naked external tubing and imperfections, so happy to run with it for now.

    Care to expand on that?

Bare carbon frames can sometimes look pretty scruffy when scrutinised closely. Sounds like yours might just have a bubble in the clearcoat. Doubt it's a sign of anything sinister, and no doubt that's what your LBS has said...

Still, a picture would help put it into perspective

The pain finish on my Scott foil HMX fork is a little scruffy and under certain lights it looks a different shade. Although it bugs me slightly I've just accepted it is how it is.

I have a CR1-SL which is the HMX frame and that doesn't bear close scrutiny, but I don't care. It's the lightest frame I've ever had!
  • Yep, 12k weave is sooo many years ago. Imperfections is where it's at

( I have imperfections in my HMX)

If your concerned, take pics of any areas, and if it all goes titsup, at least you have historical evidence...

For what it's worth, I had lacquer bubbling on an CR1 about seven years ago. Completely harmless but annoying, so I emailed Scott and they offered to replace without quibble ( or upgrade to the then new Addict which is what I did).
