Any members on here ??
Its finally time I join a club and as this is the most local to me its going to be my first point of call.
I would say im a half decent rider and still improving and on a ride around the Essex area usually average anything between 16 and 19mph on my own and am comfortable riding distances of 75miles +
My big problem is i have very little group riding experience and am a little nervous about riding in a group.
Just wanted a bit of advice on the ability levels there and types of group rides they have.
I ideally want to improve my group riding skills and ideally ride with stronger riders to improve my own ability

I don't know them but just turn up.
All clubs get people who are new and have no group experience all the time. It's really not a big issue.0 -
If you are in the Hockley area there is a group of people that have formed an official club/ride group. Have a search for them on Facebook0

Have a look on Strava at Leigh Riders - its a fairly casual group with a number of the riders doubling up with Southend Wheelers. They tend to head out either on a Saturday or Sunday morning from the top of Beach Avenue. It would get you used to group riding with experienced riders without the feel of a club. Numbers on a ride could range from a handful to 20+ with speeds ranging from 18 - 22mph depending on who turns up on the day.0

That sounds perfect. I live in Leigh so thats just round the corner instead of trekking up to Canewdon.

I've only ridden with them the once following an invite from a friend of a friend. I'm sure you'd be fine if you just pitched up and introduced yourself, they seem a friendly bunch. I think they tend to head of around 8am on a Sunday, you might also find a group go out on a Saturday.0 -
The LBS will almost certainly know of start times and meet points. Or post on their Strava group or FB pages.
Explain that you haven't ridden in a pack before and they will explain hand signals and calls, that they will make and that they will expect you to make too.Boardman Elite SLR 9.2S
