    Nope.
Well past 4 years since I gave up overnight. If you concentrate on getting through week by week rather than the month as a whole and focus on WHY you're giving up, it'll be easier.

Good luck (and to those around you, as you'll be an utterly vile person to be around for a while)

No, I'm one of those irritating gits that never smoked out of habit. Pretty much all of my friends have been smokers, I don't like non smokers they're all sanctimonious twunts.
    Good luck Pesky.

There's got to be someone else out there joining me in my plight? Well I've made it through lunch. Thats half a day. I'm already feeling cranky. My gf is in for a fun month. I'm going white water rafting with her on friday so if she annoys me too much I can be rid of her fairly easily.

I might get one of those e ciggarette things anyone reccomend a half decent one from a common shop that might be open tonight a.k.a do they sell them in tescos/ sainsburys
  • I recon those e-cig things are only replacing one habit with another, not convinced theyre better for you either.

Sorry mate but I recon cold turkey is the best way, as said above take it one day at a time, think of the money you can save not to mention the health gains....

Yeah I've thought this before, If your're vapourising an oily substance, and breathing it in, it can't be good. I just really want something to smoke - surprise surprise. Guess I'll do the good ol fashioned cold turkey.

Arran, yeah I guess. Erm Lee Valley in Broxborune - it was the olympic canoe course. Should be good

Grass, good stuff mind. Don't dilute it by mixing it with baccy. Soon you won't care that you're missing the fags.

You may be joking but I've only just quit, after smoking it everyday for about 5 years. 4 months going strong,I'll never go back to that though. I miss it. And I'm sad to say I did dilute it with tobacco, too strong otherwise. But it was the good stuff, the best infact. However by good stuff you may mean the weaker, less intense stuff. The "good stuff" is pretty much GM and frazzles your brain. I'm looking forward to having a weekend of doing nothing at all apart from xbox and an eigth.

I meant regular dried leaves, old style. Long time since I smoked any. Not normally smoking tobacco it would make my head spin in a really unpleasant way before the grass kicked in. Pure grass was much nicer.
    Errrm, or so I'm told...

A couple work mates gave up last year. The difference in their fittness now is shocking, I used to leave them miles behind on the last climb in to work, now they're right on my back wheel all the way even though I have got fitter as well.

That's bollox actually. You don't vape oil, that would be stupid and dangerous.
The main ingredient is Propylene glycol, which is also used as the carrier in asthma inhalers. Don't believe everything you read in the Daily Mail.

    From Wiki
"Propylene glycol is considered generally recognized as safe (GRAS) by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, and it is used as an humectant (E1520), solvent, and preservative in food and for tobacco products, as well as being one of the major ingredients of the "e-liquid" used in electronic cigarettes along with vegetable glycerin. Vaporizers used for delivery of pharmaceuticals or personal care products often include propylene glycol among the ingredients they are filled with.[4] Propylene glycol is used as a solvent in many pharmaceuticals, including oral, injectable and topical formulations, such as for diazepam and lorazepam which are insoluble in water.[7]"

Trouble is most of the e cigs sold in supermarkets etc are rubbish.

I mix my own juice, make my own wicks and coils, Works well. Haven't had a smoke for a few years now, breath easy, no cough.

I believe it's the Daily Mail that causes cancer, and if enough people repeat it on the internet, it will become fact.

 I know, I just said it because it was easier than looking up and writing everything you just did, and everyone would know what I meant. You seem to get quite a buzz out of it though so I guess its best I did

Update: I cracked and bought an E-cig from sainsburys - its called a vype. I know there hardly good for you, but it's got to a lot better than smoking right? Someone validate my opinion please.

Why bother? You obviously don't want to quit so why try? The only difference between those that do and those that don't is the desire/willpower. You're not interested (it's pretty obvious from the whole tone of your posts) so why bother? Will anyone really think any less of you?

I obviously don't want to quit? What? That's probably why I've made a post about stopping, and have stopped smoking ciggarettes :? I don't know why you've wrote what you have but I assure you I do want to quit. Noone will think less of me but it's not good for you and I shouldnt smoke. Why are you so cranky? have you quit aswell?

I've had a read through and these are the only bits that might lead you to thinking what you think, but they were both attempts at humour, as poor as they were.

    Take your pick from the following;

    1. Not getting enough of the good stuff.
    2. 'Special' time.
    3. He's a grumpy old git.
    4. All of the above.

using ecigs means you're still addicted. Cooldad clearly uses them as a substitute for real ones. There's that or slowly lowering the dose/frequency of use until zero.

    None of those.

You created a thread about it, big deal. You waited for a "special month" to motivate you to do it rather than just getting on with it - another sign that there's no real commitment (that's the same as the whole "I'll have one last one" or "just when I have a drink" rubbish that gets trotted out) and you already admitted that you were going to fail. You're not mentally up for it at all so stop kidding yourself and crack on with it. You know all the arguments for giving up and have done for years but have never bothered, so either man up and get on with it or admit to yourself that you're not really that committed to it and don't bother.

If you really want to do it then I wish you luck but I'd suggest that you cut out all the "well here goes" bullshit and the "humour" and get yourself properly geared up for it mentally and go at it positively, with the support that you'd get from everyone who wants you to succeed (including me!) on here and in the real world and you'll do it.

I think your're reading into it a bit much, and its not a clear cut thing that applies to everyone is it. All I can say is we'll see. Perhaps you'll apreciate the "humour" in that you seem to think you can accurately evaulate my mentality through a few posts on the internet. Out of interest, are you or were you a smoker?

I plan to use these for the month and then cut everything out completely. As i've already mentioned, I've quit more addictive substances overnight, just because I wanted to - my willpower isnt weak and in all seriousness I know I'll be able to do it. Perhaps I shouldnt make light of it because it seems to upset some people.

Seriously - there's nothing more addictive than nicotine - what are you meaning? I've heard the phrase from heroin addicts who've quite that but failed on the fags.

I find that very hard to believe. I doubt nictoine is more addictive to heroin, but then again I dont know many heroin addicts. Perhaps since nicotine poses a less serious threat then heroin its harder to give up. Kind of off subject but look up krokodil - the makeshift smack.

OK - so it's slightly below, but only slightly. I was more getting at the fact you'd quit more additive substances over night and assumed you were never a crackhead or junky.
