Hi all I have a new mtb (Trek X-Caliber 8 E 2014) which I love, however I want to know if it's normal for the chain the rub on the case of the front derailleur when the chain is on the smallest cog on the back and the middle cog on the front, the bike has 30 gears in total. thanks

No, it needs setting up (indexing) properly, just read Parktool.com guide on how to do it

Thanks I will take it to the shop I got it from as it was there for a six weeks servcie last weekend
