I have a SRAM Chain, 9 speed cassette and SRAM X7 shifters.
I want to convert it to a clutched setup. Ive seen some people using a spacer on a Shimano XT M786 Shadow+ 10 Speed derralier and im hoping to do this too.
Will a 10 speed Shimano derallier work with a 9 speed SRAM chain?
Thanks in advance.
Any help is appreciated.

Chain doesn't matter to a mech, chainrings and cassette do - the spacing anyway.I don't do smileys.

Nope, stock ones will be fine.0

The chain has the same internal width (between the plates) it is only the external width (thickness of the plates) that has reduced.Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0

Shimano 10 speed mech will work with a SRAM 9 speed shifter and any 9 speed chain and cassette. No spacers needed.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350

Yes. Lots of DH riders run Zee or Saint clutch mechs with SRAM 9 speed shifters.
9 Speed is more than enough for DH, 10 speed is even worse but clutch mechs are good for keeping the chain under control.
At the moment I'm running a SRAM X0 9 speed shifter with a Saint shadow+ 10 speed mech and 9 speed cassette. Works a treat.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350 -
Without a spacer? Not seen it done as a straight fit I must say.0

It's a common downhill setup. I know people who have been using since Zee mechs first came out.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350
