Another Boardman Carbon Road Sizing Query!

Having just received my C2W voucher, I'm looking to pick up a Road Team Carbon.
I'm 6'1.5" in height, with a 34.5" inside leg. Having walked into Halfords last night, the shop assistant thought I'd be between a Medium (55.5 ST) and Large (57.0 ST), which instantly set alarm bells ringing.
Having tried the Large, it felt pretty comfortable, but unfortunately they (nor any local Halfords stores) had the XL in stock to try. I'm trying to source one somewhere in the country, but meanwhile, am trying to work out whether the Large is the most appropriate, or whether I should hold out for an XL to come in stock somewhere!
Having done a very rough check, my arm span is definitely shorter than my height, so I'm not sure whether that means I have "short" arms, but perhaps they're not long certainly!
Any advice would be much appreciated!
