Hello, i can do the Halfords C2W scheme and as I have a close friend in Halfords I can use his discount on it as well. (25%)

I can get £500 budget but don't know what to get!
I either want the Carrera Vanquish, 2015 model or the new 13 bike they do. I really don't know which would be better. I like that the Carrera has carbon forks but I am not sure about the spec of the bike! I also like the 13 bike! Can a person that knows more about road bikes let me know which one is the better one please as i dont have a clue which to go for!

I can get this for £375 http://www.halfords.com/cycling/bikes/r ... -bike-2015
or I can get this for around £300 http://www.halfords.com/cycling/bikes/r ... -bike-2015

Which ever one i get i want to use the rest of the available money to get accesories, such as SPD pedals, a cycle computer and other bits and bobs!

I AM A NEW RIDER SO NOT FUSSED ABOUT WHETHER IT WILL LAST ME 50 YEARS! JUST A STARTER BIKE!

  • Have you taken a look at the Boardman CX COMP in Halfords , with your 25% discount it would be within your budget, and would be ideal as a starter bike, it can go on road, and off road (within reason, no downhill mountain biking!)

it has a very good spec including disc brakes, gearing that will get you up almost anything you care to point it at, mounting points for mudguards, and wider tyres than a normal road bike for more predictable handling
