valve extenders

I have just purchased a set of 50mm carbon clinchers. Do I need specific innertubes with longer valves or can I get away with using extenders?

Best to use specific ones... Go for a 62mm.

May not be long enough for your track pump to grip onto, thus causing much annoyance, swearing and gnashing of teeth.

Not that I have experience of this.
