Hi all,
I've just bought myself a pair of Doval chainrings to try, what I was wondering was would I be able to fit the big oval ring but leave my small round standard ring on, or will I have to run both oval rings? The reason being I was going to fit the big oval ring but leave my small normal ring on just until I had got used to them.
I hope this makes sense :?
Any help/advice welcomed.
Cheers. Gaz

  • Is there a large difference between the sizing of the Oval rings to the old rings? If they are the same BCD, and the gap isn't too large between small and large ring you should be OK.
  • Hi,
The BCD is 110 and my standard rings and the doval rings are both 50/36

  • I think that you could continue to use the regular small ring.
But the height of the front derailleur might have to be raised slightly so the cage does not rub against the oval ring.

Also pay attention to the orientation of the oval ring with the crank arm. I imagine there are instructions that come with the ring.
