I'm looking at purchasing some Sidi Genius 5 Fit Road Shoe, but for some reason there seems to be conflicting information on the correct sizing.

Sidicafe & Wiggle have a 9.5 as 45.5 & 10 as a 46
Chain Reaction seem to say 9.5 is a 45 & 10 is a 45.5

I suppose this goes out to the Sidi crew, please could you let me know what size I need for a UK size 9.5 or 10.

Thanks

Formal shoes for me in Churches are UK size 10F.

Cycling shoes for me translates into:
    Specialised - 45
    Sidi - 46

This has been consistent for me with a couple of different shoe ranges in both manufacturers products.

  • I am a 9.5 normally and have always bought 45 including two pairs of Sidi. I was expecting to size up more when I bought my first pair after owning Specialized shoes but 45 is spot on for me.

I am a UK 10 and in cycle shoes it's 45.5 in Specialized and 46.5 in Sidi. I thinks it's not only length but width has a bearing - the Sidi are quite narrow and the 46.5 gives a bit more room in the toe over the 46 rather than extra length.
  • first.
you will have to accept the fact that every manufacturers version will be different. At best you can compare.
Also you have to accept that the translation from Euro to UK sizing isn't consistent and you have to work out if is the manufacturers or the shop trying to be accurate.
    Bear in mind this.
1 euro size is 3/4 of an UK size. Take size 8 as a reference. That is a 42. So to be correct a 43 is 8 and 3/4, 44 is 9 1/2 and so on.
That is an industry standard conversion. It works as long as the manufactures label accordingly.
    They don't.
My 43 Sidi's are shorter than my 42 Specialized but narrower at the front. The Sidi heel measures the same with a mm or two. The length is pretty well the same inside as best as I can tell. My 42 Pearl Izumi's have a wider heel still.
Shoes, along with helmets are the reason we still keep our LBS alive. Trail round them til you find the one that fits and buy it there.
Ignore any thing people say about a shoe being a good fit. They don't have your feet.
Totally ignore the lable on the box. That's vanity.
  • The only way is to buy two or three different sizes, keep one and return the others. In a shoe shop you would try at least two sizes when spending a few hundred on shoes. The problem with LBSs is that they seldom have all the sizes in the style you want because they cant afford to stock them anymore. Im 43 shoe size and take 44 in Sidi Wire. Bear in mind the half sizes have the sole size of the next size down, they somehow make the uppers slightly bigger.

I was surprised that compared to the Specialized BG Comp road shoes, Sidis appeared no narrower. In fact, the Specialized shoes kept pinching the sides of my feet whereas the Sidis fit perfectly. Both size 45.

Also, if you need extra width, don't size up! Look at Sidi Mega shoes instead - they're wider than their standard offerings.

Their footbeds are cr*p though, but some Sidas footbeds have made a massive difference.

I wear UK 8.5 and Sidi 43. Sidis are the best fitting and most comfortable cycling shoes I've tried.
  • I have the Sidi Genius 5, size 43. I always like a little bit of wriggle room for my toes so always go half a size up for my cycling shoes.
Most formal shoes I'm an 8.

The Sidi Genius 5 are very good shoes IMO.

    I'm a UK 9.5.
Both pairs of Sidi are 45, but I'd probably be slightly better with 44.5. 44 would be too small.

There have been similar threads to this in the past however, this thread really does contain a very diverse range of response/ experiences of riders. Only safe solution is to try them on for yourself.
