Purely for scientific purposes, if you could do a 3 day break in any of the following where would it be?

Would we be leaving today because if we were I wouldn't want to be stuck in one of those Scottish shite holes once they close the door on Thursday

Not in the slightest, face palm as York is lovely and i should have put it in but only allowed 10 poll answers. Funnily enough did you know Reading is Britain 17th most visited city by tourists.

This is something to do with it's proximity to places like London and Windsor which are obviously big tourist destinations but expensive to stay in so you get lots of tourists staying in the many hotels in Reading and then traveling to the attractions in other towns, Reading has fuck all for tourists

Exactly my point, much cheaper than staying closer to Legoland but still pretty easy to get there

Next time you visit you could stay in the old prison, it might be getting turned into a hotel

haven't they done that with an old prison in Oxford?
there are a couple of places i've always wanted a weekend in but never had the opportunity (Oxford and stratford upon avon) probably not as nice as I think they are?

Purely Scientific, well sort of. Also the mrs wants a weekend away. She was pushing to go to Leicestershire (has family there) but when York was mentioned had no qualmes of bumping it and stopping for a night on the way up the M1

I'd stay in a city that was close to some friends who I also wanted to see, or where there is good road cycling nearby. So somewhere like York...

Both absolutely decent places but I would struggle to do a full weekend in either. Canterbury is not bad either.

A weekend away for you and Mrs Head? Say no more  It's got to be Brighton hasn't it for a couple of young child free party animals like yourselves :D

Brighton is OK but alas I was banned from the pier when I was a kid, we go down a few times a year either on the bike or a large group and go for brekkie on the front.

The difference between you and me (actually I'm sure this isn't the only one) is that I don't take anything here seriously and actually do have a sense of humour.

I love the banter here and I really don't care when it gets slung back my way either......this place is not real life

Oh come on. Now I know that you are only jesting. Where would we be without BR?

Probably a whole lot happier if we could get away from computer devices.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.

Genuine question, what is the appeal of York for a weekend away? I've never been so honestly know nothing of the place other than it has a minster!!

Mrs 77 is dropping 'subtle' hints about a weekend away so maybe this is the place?
