Anyone else looking at the offerings of disc road bikes for 2015 and can suggest a model that ticks the above boxes?
Budget £3k to 3.5k.
Rose Xeon CDX looks promising but not on their website yet.

For that money build your own start with a chinese frameset like the one I bought my wife and kit it out.
Genesis have a tasty Ti disc brake frame due out next month that has my name all over it.http://www.thecycleclinic.co.uk -wheel building and other stuff.0 -

Yea the Defy Advanced Pro 0 looks decent, not sure about the quick release only wheels though. Guess the thru axle or QR standard hasn't been 'agreed' for road bikes. Rose has the option of either on the rear, front is 15mm thru axle.Cheers, Stu0 -
With the loads that can be imposed by disc brakes, some sort of Maxel type system would seem essential.
A couple of QR skewers just won't last.Boardman Elite SLR 9.2S

Giant must be pretty confident it will do the job though, plus there is lots of QR based Road disc wheels about.Cheers, Stu0

Yeah, 'cos QR didn't do a job in mountain biking for years and years did it.Trail fun - Transition Bandit

Yup - what utter nonsense. The clamping is provided through tension and a QR skewer is perfectly adequate. The thru axles probably provide some rigidity to MTB forks (especially long-travel DH types) but serve no purpose on a road bike. I've hammered my disc-braked carbon road bike for 3.5 years now including a few fast descents of Alpe D'Huez in a day and everything has been fab.ROAD < Scott Foil HMX Di2, Volagi Liscio Di2, Jamis Renegade Elite Di2, Cube Reaction Race > ROUGH0 -

I run both my disc-braked roadies with Halo allen key skewers. They're fine. Wheels aren't going anywhere, and no brake rub either.
Don't get me wrong, I'm a big fan of maxles and run them on my mtb, at both ends, but they're mainly for stiffness, as suggested. For road setups they aren't essential.
I think the Defy disc looks good. Some tech here.

ps. I run a custom Hongfu, with Hope hydros. And my commuter is an Airborne Carpe Diem with XTR hydros.Facts are meaningless, you can use facts to prove anything that's remotely true! - Homer0 -

Looks like the only one in budget with Udi2 and hyds is the Giant (and probably the Rose going by what they implied the prices will be but they are still TBC so cant be sure).
Giant wheelset doesnt seem the best weight wise but not the worst either, hoping the Rose will be upgradable from their usual good custom spec options.
The Stevens seems in budget barely but the prices are in Euro only, German supplied and the website seems poorer than Rose, Canyon etc. Also have one eye on resale as they arent that well known (IMO).Cheers, Stu0 -
So the Rose Xeon CDX looks good price and spec wise, anyone ordered one?
