Personally I think you need the higher contrast offered by black on a white bike.

Had dark brown tape but moved to cork finish to try to coordinate with the saddle. As you can see, that didn't work out so well. Does match the underside of the sadlle though.

I prefer black saddle and bar tape with brown hoods on my 1978 Motobecane, it looks the nuts0
