Freehub ratchet problem?
Hi,
I've noticed recently that after I coast downhill and then start to pedal again, it takes a fair few degrees for the ratchet to engage. Basically, when you start to pedal again it feels like there is no resistance like when you pedal backwards, then you can feel a clunk as the ratchet engages. The degrees that the have to cranks turn before the ratchet engages and the "nothing then everything" feel is quite noticeable. But once the ratchet engages it feels fine, it does not slip until you coast again.
Any idea whats causing this? Is the freehub on its way out and should I replace it?
It's a campag wheel and I had to buy the freehub about 2 years ago to fit a Shimano cassette.
Thanks.

Freehubs don't last forever, if its the lower end models then all it could be is sticky pawls. Remove the spring clean up the pawls with sand paper pop back in with some grease it might help or it might not.http://www.thecycleclinic.co.uk -wheel building and other stuff.0
