Looking to get back in to mountain biking again, I'm in Northern Ireland and intend to ride the trail centres over here. I believe I'm looking for an "enduro" type bike, 140mm travel or thereabouts that will let me ride some of the more aggressive DH tracks too.
The new 2015 Vitus range looks well specced for the money and initial reviews are very positive. They're not out till November though. Are there any reduced 2014 bikes from the likes of Giant/Trek/Scott/Kona etc that would be worth looking at? They all seem to command at least £5-800 of a premium to get the same component spec as the Vitus or Canyon, for example.
I'd love to get back out ASAP and not have to wait till November for the Vitus.

2014 Kona Process 134 - big discounts pushing it down to around the £1600 mark. Just got one myself. Brilliant! All the gear, no idea and loving the smell of jealousy in the morning.

look for the rose granite chief thread on here - great kit for under 2k0

Kona Process or Rose Granite Chief would be my choice.
The Kona is the best trail bike I have ever ridden (better than my Mega TR) but comes with a heavy but solid fork.
The Rose is great value and rides brilliantly. Better components than the Kona but doesn't ride quite as well, close though.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350 -
Could I shave some weight off if I upgraded the fork then?0

Is the Kona quite heavy?0

A little heavy but not excessive. Mostly due to the wheels, tyres and forks. The frame is so good I could forgive the weight. It's very stiff but with excellent suspension and geometry.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350

Couldn't find a bad review on the Process 134, bit the bullet (I've been debating this purchase for a few months), should be here Tuesday!0

While at BPW on Tuesday I also rode the Trek Remedy 9 27.5, a bike that cost well over twice what I paid for the Process, and it wasn't even half the fun of the Kona. And terribly harsh in comparison, too. You won't be disappointed. All the gear, no idea and loving the smell of jealousy in the morning.

I think if I was buying a new bike now the Process 134 would be the only choice. Such a great bike to ride. It's as much fun as my Mega TR but with better rear suspension.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350

It certainly managed to flatter my ham-fisted efforts at BPW.All the gear, no idea and loving the smell of jealousy in the morning.

No matter how bad you are at BPW there is always someone bad enough to make you look like a hero!Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350
