Bontrager R1 Tyres

Had a shock on holiday seeing the tread separating from the casing on a Bontrager R1 tyre.
Fortunately nothing untoward happened and I replaced them with Conti GP 4 Seasons.
Sent the photo to Bontrager and they weren't interested - told me to make a warranty claim through a local distributor.
Anyone seen anything like this?

Might just be a one off.
I highly rate my R3's and would choose them over any other tyre for my current bike.
Perhaps the R1's are manufactured in another place to the other levels of tyres they offer.
Try your LBS for the refund.
Mine did an exchange on a faulty Specialized Turbo inner tube when I showed them the manufacturing defect.0
