50/34 to 52/36 Quick Question
Hello,
I am looking at a certain bike for my next one, a BMC SLR03 105.
It comes with a 50/34 and a 32 cassette on the back.....
Just wondering if I were to upgrade the chainset to a 52/36, would it fit ok? I dont see any reason why not, just an adjustment of the front derailer ( move it up a little ), just wondering what you think....
The only thing I can think of would be that I need a new chain too? am I missing anything?
Cheers.

It'll fit fine, so long as it uses the same bb type. You'll need to adjust the front mech and you will likely need a new chain, check the old one for length once you've fitted the new chainset.0

Both chainsets (50/34 and 52/36) should be 110bcd, so you can just change the chainrings. No need to buy a new chainset (unless you already have it that is).0

I upgraded from a 50/34 Ultegra to a 52/36 Dura Ace and the chain was fine.
As Gozzy said, you'll have to lift your front mech.0 -
What's the reason for the change? The only reason I ask is that you could swap the cassette instead, which would work out cheaper, if you're just wanting to adjust the ratios.0

I changed because I just didn't like the ugle Ultegra one and I was offered a brand new
Dura Ace at a price I'd have been a fool to turn down !0
