... what would you get?
This isn't advice on what bike for ME to get.
Rather, if you were debited £2000 right now, what bike would you buy? Maybe it's better to approach this in the thinking that you don't have your current road bike?
Interested to see whether you'd prefer to get a big-name, plush brand versus a fully-kitted out Ribble or PlanetX, or vice-versa.
Fire away.

Canondale Evo 105 with a powermeter.0

Tough choice.
Probably the 2014 Cannondale Evo Six that Epic cycles were offering just before their 2015 models came in though I'm tempted to say my bike. The 2014 Focus Cayo Evo 2.0.
I picked it up for £1500 reduced from £2k and it's been a totally storming bike.
It gets great reviews and it really does live up to it's expectations.
Now I've stripped it down and kitted it up with SRAM Red, AC wheels and choice components it's very light and better than ever.0 -

With recent price drops, it would have to be a very good bike to be better than a cannondale ssI'm sorry you don't believe in miracles0

I'd probably go for a Cervelo R3 105 + some decent wheels (Zonda's?). And then regret overpaying for a name and not going for something more individual/unusual!0

I would get this frame:

My Ribble was lovingly fillet brazed by Terry Dolan for some guy called Chris Boardman. It is much nicer than your 'big name, plush brand' tat, thank you very much.
But does it have to be a complete bike? If it doesn't, I'd either...
- Treat myself to an old Ghibli (in white, please?)/Comete rear disc and a 3-4 spoke front, and whatever old Record bits I could get with the leftover cash.
- OR have Argos Cycles build me up a custom lo pro in 953. Except that £2000 probably wouldn't buy the frame.0 -
An old Klein frame (pre Trek) built up with worthy components. Think I cold scrape in at 2k.
I had Klein MTBs (Adroit and a Mantra) and just loved the paint jobs. Complete tart.
Very interesting interview with Gary Klein in a recent edition of Rouleur. I did't know the history between him and the folks at Cannondale.0 -

Can you get full carbon and 105 (or above) with properly done internal routed hydraulics for £2k yet?I used to just ride my bike to work but now I find myself going out looking for bigger and bigger hills.0

Well, I'm actually looking to buy a bike within the next year up to £2k. For me, it's a fight between the BMC Teamachine SLR02 105 at £1800, the Cervelo R2 at £1999 and the Trek Emonda SL5 at £1900.
I'm leaning towards the BMC or Cervelo at the moment but would have to make up my mind from test riding- their frames are all designed to do the same job and I'd like to compare how they handle, 'feel' and behave under pressure.
Admittedly I'd change over to Ultegra and put nicer wheels on any of these bikes, putting the overall cost over £2k, but that would be over another year or so.0 -
In a perfect world, my lbs would build me up a Kinesis Aithein which I would test ride for, say, a couple of weeks, and that would be my base line to compare the others mentioned so far, and then I could make a truly informed choice...0

Bmc slr02 or supersix evo. Both top quality bikes.0

Would buy this, with VAT off ( ), would leave £1200ish for everything else.
It's very tempting but think the missus would smash my knee caps!0 -

I think I'd have to sell my winter bike to justify that, fingers crossed it's still around come spring...0
