BB30 Tools or improvise
I'm hoping to buy a another bike for winter riding. Currently an Alu Synapse looks a possibility as the 2014 models have been marked down, they have mounts for full mudguards and disc brakes.
Unfortunately they also have BB30 bottom brackets which I have heard nothing but bad things about. Even if you discount the moaning I've certainly never heard anybody say they prefer it to Shimano's Hollowtech II BB which my current bike has.
In preparation for possibly buying the synapse I've looked into the equipment necessary for servicing/replacing BB30 bearings.
It would appear that I need a headset press with adaptors for BB30. Headset presses are fairly expensive.
In comparison, the adaptors for installing/removing hollowtech II BB are cheap.
Is this what people who home service their BB30 bikes have in their toolkit or are people managing fine with improvised tools?
Cheers!

I've got a BB86 crankshaft bearing to fit at some point in the future; I was just planning to use a soft mallet and a bit of wood with a dab of loctite! But then I've fitted lots of bearings this way.- - - - - - - - - -

I can sell you a homemade press to install BB30 bearings. £5 posted.

To remove the bearings only a drift and soft hammer is needed.0 -
So looks like you guys are improvising.
Cheers for the offer but I've not bought the bike yet, partly due to it having BB30 I'm looking at alternatives but wanted to be aware of what is needed to service it should I buy it.0 -
I will have one of those off you trailflow!0

If you really want the BB30 frame, but don't want the BB itself, you can use converters or insertable shells to move back to the Hollowtech. There are also alternative BBs like the Praxisworks:
