Annoying locks at shops

Hello everyone,
couple days ago I was cycling home from work. At some point I've decided to stop at the shop, but I couldn't buy anything because I didn't have a lock with me. I got really annoyed and just wanted to know if there other people like me. Could you please fill my questionnaire? It would be amazing if you could share it with your friends. Thanks!

  • You need options for questions 3-6 as you can't tell what sort of answer you're expecting, i.e. for 'how often do you cycle?' are you expecting a number (for days per week) or a description (e.g. frequently) etc

    to what purpose?
You think a shop could/should provide a lock for you? Would you trust a third-party locking solution? How is it administered? A key lock? Wouldn't the key's go missing, costing the shop time & money to replace? Is it really a big issue for shops? What sorts of shops are these? The big supermarkets could easily afford to spend some money on bike security, the corner shop couldn't.

btw - last time I went to the shops without a lock was a quick visit to the bank. I took my bike inside. Nobody complained.

Getting really annoyed at your own stupidity is a bit surprising ... annoyed yes... but really annoyed? Seen a shrink?

Its your bike (unless you stole it), so its your responsibility. If you want it to be secure at a shop, take your own lock.

A cake shop in Henley provided locks for all the cyclists that stopped there, but the facility was abused - forget whether keys went missing, or locks were stolen but it didn't work out. And if your bike is stolen using a lock provided by a shop, who is responsible?

May be I should start a thread encouring all shops to have car parking spaces right outside so I don't have to walk so far from my Chelsea tractor

+1. Great lock for a short stop.
