seat clamp size

I need a new seat clamp for my seat post which is 31.6mm diameter, there is no diameter stamped on the seat clamp, can anyone tell me what diameter i need please.

    Are you lucky enough to own a vernier caliper, or have a friend who has one? If you've taken the old one off, looked all over it and can't find the size stamped on it anywhere, that's your best option. A final possibility, if your seat tube is truly tubular and your front derailleur is clamped on, is to have a look at the front derailleur and see if it has the size written on it somewhere

    Typically, a 31.6 post takes a 34.9mm clamp unless your frames made of some funky material.

    There's an easy rule of thumb to avoid doing maths (at least, for the 3 most common sizes):

    Measure around the seat tube of the frame using a fabric tape measure or cotton and a ruler as suggested above.

    11cm circumference = 34.9mm clamp
    10cm circumference = 31.8mm clamp
    9cm circumference = 28.6mm clamp
