Hi all,

I have damaged my Specialized FSR XC '06 Linkage and am looking for a new or used one.

Specialized no longer have this part and BETD have stopped producing new ones (because they have to make a batch of 50 every time, and there just isn't that demand anymore). I have also scoured ebay, pink bike & gumtree.

Does anyone have anymore suggestions? Or is anyone selling a new or used part?

Thanks!

I'm really sorry mate but your going to have one hell of a time sourcing that part. I have the stumpy fsr 07 with a very similar linkage, and I needed some spare custom spacers that go with it, and specialised were completely useless in helping me ; it was hard enough even getting replacement bearings...
  • And what did you end up doing?

Spesh said they would give me 20% off a new frame but not sure what I'd do with that. I have upgraded my bike a hell of a lot and really invested in 26 inch bikes :( I have read some people got given a new frame because the frame has a lifetime warranty but I assume this techinically is not the frame..

If you want place a wanted advert use the classifieds. If you want buying advice use the buying section.

Tech section says go find a Spesh dealer and beg.

They were just plastic things, I got similar things made very cheaply. Look for a spare second hand frame that is 26" wheels. It will be very cheap (no VAT) . I'm pretty disappointed in specialised's offer to you as 20% off is nothing. Good luck!
  • They increased it to 25% but that was it. With regards to buying frame only that is what I have resorted to!

I'm scouring ebay, pinkbike and every corner of the web. There are a couple of enticing prices.. I will let you know if i win ;)

Do you think the size of that linkage changes depending on the size of the frame? I have a medium size and I'm seeing alot of Large frames up for sale. What do you reckon?

Hmm, rear ends generally are the same. I would just buy the frame and use that one instead of swapping bits. Why do you need a new linkage? And how tall are you, because if you stick a short stem on a large it will fit the same as a medium.
  • Not the best option, But did anyone clone that frame (china)?
  • Btw guys i found out that the linkage is the same from 05-08 on the fsr XC. The linkage size does NOT change depending on the size of the frame. Spesh representative said that the rear end of the frame does not change with frame sizes.

I'm in a bidding war now. Wish me luck! ;)
  • Coc if you look carefully at the second photo you can see that I have chipped the metal so the rear shock will not fit anymore. Sanding it down or else will not solve the problem.

I will buy a frame and use the linkage from that! I want to keep my red frame!
  • Just file it down until the shock fits!

Yeah it does look like you could just file it away tbh but ok. Sell the spare frame parts when your done also eg front triangle as people with cracked frames will be looking for replacements. Good luck with the bidding!
  • Hey guys,

So Unfortunately i lost the bidding war but.. Good news. Even though I live in uk and Specialized UK said there was no way for me to source this linkage i called up Specialized U.S and it turns out it was "not a problem, sir". I had to call both east and west coast stores and i now have a linkage coming from both stores so i even have a spare one in the future. It set me back 40$. Getting it sent for free to my friends address in New York and then he will send it here.

Lesson learnt: there is always a way :) thanks for your help!

I'm pleased, but I really don't think you needed a new one :?
  • Hi all,

New linkage has been sent from California as Specialized UK doesn't produce it anymore and neither does BETD.

Happy to be back riding :)

How much did spesh USA charge for the part and postage?
  • Got it for free, the guy was really helpful. I ordered a spare one from New York and that set me back $40 dollars. Both packages were sent to a friend in New York who then sent it to me so not sure how much it costs to ship overseas..
