Anyone riding an Airnimal with skinny tyres?

Just wondered if there were any Airnimal Joey or Chameleon owners out there with the skinny road-bike style tyres?
I test rode a Joey Commuter (a model with the chunkier tyres), expecting it to be somewhere between my existing Dahon Speed D7 (reasonably nippy) and my road bike (super nippy), but was seriously underwhelmed in terms of pace and lack of big-bike feel.
Wondering if the Joey is significantly more responsive with skinny tyres on? The folded size is pretty huge and significantly more hassle than my Dahon.
Perhaps my expectations were just set too high?
