Can't remember. Swapping a 10 speed Shimano cassette for a SRAM one. Do I need the little spacer/shim thingy?

It depends on the hub. But if say a shimano hub where you would need on spacer on most shimano 10spd cassettes the you don't need a spacer with SRAM, but as not all shimano 10spd hubs need a spacer....

All covered in the FAQS above.

  • Hope hub.
Ultegra being swapped out for SRAM 1070.

FAQ rather vague and jumps about a bit.
  • I think you will find that the SRAM cassette has the space built in so you don't need one. I have SRAM 1050 cassettes on two Ultegra hubs and no spacers.
I have only two things to say to that; Bo***cks

Rather than having the spacer built-in, SRAM never went the way of having the narrower 10sp cassettes with deeper splines like Shimano did.

No idea about your Hope hub, but if it's 8/9/10sp compatible, then remove your Ultegra cassette and the 1mm spacer behind it, fit the SRAM cassette; if it's 10sp-only, the splines will be too deep to get the cassette on
