Prescription Cycling Sunglasses

Last week there was a five bargains page on here which had a US mail order prescription sunglasses company listed. I checked it out and it seemed really good prices. I had heard of them being good before but this was the first time I looked with a view to perhaps getting a decent pair of prescription sunglasses.

I am trying to find the company's name again, they have RX in the name which is a big problem since in USA Rx means prescription so all glasses suppliers have it as their key tags. I get a lot of rubbish and not the good company I need.

The reason I need to find this out is they deal with difficult prescriptions a lot of others don't touch. I'm nearly a -10 prescription you see and most won't touch it. On top of that I need to get prescription safety glasses for work which this company also does. Otherwise I will be stuck with the carp ones work supplies,

Does anyone know what company I am talking about? I have checked out RX SPort and it is not them. If it is any help, the site has a neat option to put in your prescription, activity and other details to get a selection of suggested glasses. It seemed a good filter at the time.

Alternatively, anyone know a GOOD prescription sunglasses supplier who also does impact/chemical protection safety glasses to the relevant Standard???

PS I can not wear contact lenses so please don't suggest that. My eyes can not take them due to the dryness of them. I last had contacts about 10 years ago and I'd be scratching my eyes out after a couple of hours wearing them. Seriously they hurt big time after 2 to 3 hours!!!!

    You will not be able to order spex online with your RX.

    Strange that you don't value an opticians professional advice with a RX like yours.

    You're being very presumptuous, ignorant and unpleasant.
    You realise, do you not, that opticians typically perform 2 separate functions. They do eye tests and they sell glasses. The first you need an optician for. Once they've worked out your prescription there's no reason you can't go elsewhere for the glasses.

    So....he can both value his optician's professional advice and buy online if he wants.

    No he can't. Under regulations from the GOC, a prescription over 5 units in power cannot be made up online. I am an Optician.

    You won't get one.
    I'm not in the least surprised you're an optician. It had occured to me from the tone of your first post.

    The GOC is a UK organisation. Do you know where the OP is living? I don't. Is there an international equivalent to this regulation regarding specific prescription strengths?

    Easy guys. UK based but the US company linked to from this site did say they supply RX that most do not. You give them your RX from an optician and they make up the glasses in the same way as a normal optician would, I.e. send it off to a company who makes it up. I really struggle to see how you can't take the RX you get from optician, paid for service, and go elsewhere. From the site I found they had no issues supplying to my RX and they didn't come across as cowboys neither. Found them from this site but think it was the 5 deals of the week from last week or so. Just can't find the link again as I'd been browsing incognito at the time.

    BTW I've had opticians give me the full RX including spacing of pupils. AFAIK that's all the manufacturers need to make them. It's all past opticians in UK needed. I always get eye test in one place and glasses elsewhere because the good optician near me works in a place which has a very bad selection of frames.

    Wow. My prescriptions over 6. I Must of imagined the last three pair of glasses and three pair of RX inserts i bought via various internet companies.
