I want to know what everyones thoughts are on PlanetX Cycles

Yes i know there are better or worse bikes, thats not my question.

I want to know your thoughts, pros vs cons, any issues, good things or your experiance and your planet x bike?

  • Depends what you want if you want a bike that does what a branded one does then they are good. Want a bike with 'image' look elsewhere.

Having said that a TT field will be about 50% PX.

I have a TT bike and cant fault it for the money.
  • I bought my Planet X Pro Carbon via Geoffery Butler's, kitted it out with Campag Veloce, Mavic Kysrium Elites and she's done me proud, I really think it's been a wonderful bit of kit. I ride it all year round, wet, dry, snow, sun, sportives, road races, crits, up the pub, to work, in the boot out the boot and it has never let me down.

Had my Pro Carbon for a few years now can't fault it, just as much fun to ride as the Canyon I have. :)

I love my RT-58,it's coming up to a year old now and can't fault it.
    Buying a Planet-X N2A next year.

Bought a Nanolight three or four years ago, it's been through a few crashes so it looks a bit battered but still rides fine. No significant problems with the performance of the kit IME, but PX can be a bit flaky WRT customer service.

Interested to know why are you buying the N2A? Is the RT58 a bit bland to ride? Really thinking about getting one in the green and white just worried it maybe a bit boring. I know the RT57 is there but not to struck on the colour.

The RT is fine! I bought it as it's geometry is a bit more relaxed and it replaced a Focus Variado I just couldn't get comfortable on.I'm from an MTB background so bought it as a transition into road-riding and can't fault it at all 8) I love the white and green but unfortunately when I bought mine they were only available in black  The only thing I've changed is bar-tape.
I'm buying an N2A for no other reason than I like the look of them and I'm going to try to see if I get on with a "racier" Geometry.
I'll be keeping the RT as a winter/poor weather back-up bike

Looking at the RT58 in green and white myself- boring it isn't in my view!

I know they're all the rage and I get why people like them but the 'stealth' thing just doesn't do it for me so I'd previously overlooked the RT58.

From the reviews I've read it is considered a decent alternative to an all out race bike if like me you need a bit of comfort in your older age!

I initially liked the "stealth" look but it now just looks Matt Black and I'd like a splash of colour!.The only real downside(IMO) is that the "raw" carbon finish marks quite easily.I've taken to wrapping the frame in bubble-wrao where the bike locks(chains in a nylon wrap) go through the frame as there are rub marks, only ever-so-slight but marks anyway
Cosmetics apart though it really is a great little bike to ride

Dont get me wrong, i love the green and white. I just wish they did the RT-57 in green and white as i'm worried if i bought the RT-58 because of i like the look of it then how long until i got bored of riding it because its not as sharp as the RT-57?

IIRC the Geo on the RT57-58 aren't that much different?
Although "relaxed" my RT feels as sharp as a razor.I only have the Focus Variado it replaced as a bench mark though :?
I took the RT to the Lakes last year when I first bought it on our annual lads MTB week.We did one road ride and one of my mates(a roady who comes along for the social thing) did a few miles on the RT and said "bloody hell this is a fast bike" he's about 9st wet through,I'm 14.5st so i'll take his word for it :mrgreen:

Had another look at it tonight and it looks a lot of bike for the money. What are the wheels like as not familiar with them.

I'm slowly talking myself into this bike!

According to the website the RT now has FSA wheels, mine came with Shimano A500s(Which look a bit boring but seem to be OK)so I'll be no help there
