Buying a Pod

Has anyone bought a pod?
Is it satisfactory?
Would you recommend it?
Did you buy it on a whim or was it a researched purchase?
By Pod I mean a wooden structure.

I can see there's no hope of getting any sense here.
There's no alternative but to post a random picture to cheer me up.

You didn't provide any links, so I had to google, eventually I found what I think you're on about?
http://www.campingpods.eu/ ?
Wouldn't have hurt to include a link, but since I've done the heavy lifting, we can now talk about the product.
I think it's shit.

It is to use as an Office probably in reality quite a bit maybe 10-15 hours a week.
It will be in the garden.0 -

A £4.5k shed! :shock:You only need two tools: WD40 and Duck Tape.
If it doesn't move and should, use the WD40.
If it shouldn't move and does, use the tape.0 -

It's a bit rich to ask a ridiculously vague question, ignore requests for clarity and then complain about the quality of responses.
Incidentally, I don't think her shorts are properly padded.0 -
I'm sure riding uphill, one handed like that, can't be very efficient.
Anyway, you could build a more conventional, insulated outdoor building for way less than £4,500. Pods seem like a rip off to me. A shed (or summer house, outbuilding, etc. if you insist) is a great idea and can be built and installed for (i suspect) half the cost.0 -
I reckon that whilst the 'pod' is very nice, chic and trendy for the 'suburbanite'. As an office its going to lack natural daylight.
I built a cabin last year, at a cost of £2.5k incl concrete base. Got double doors and window which lets in plenty of daylight for working in. Just something to bear in mind.Always be yourself, unless you can be Aaron Rodgers....Then always be Aaron Rodgers.0 -
Buy a 12' by 18' shed with garage doors, a side door and windows, line it with celotex and far eastern ply*. Chuck a woodburner up the corner and stick a velux toplight in it. Run a cable to the house and hey presto, a pod for less than 2k. Oh, and you'll need a concrete base on top of a decent dpu thickness membrane.
I'll even build it for you
*For the posh option, line it with celotex and egg shell old English white painted lapping or tongue and groove, buy some cheap laminate from BandQ and do the floors.seanoconn - gruagach craic!0 -
The design would be a nightmare to actually use. It's not that wide and the 2.4 metre height dimension is not clear if that's the internal headroom or the overall external height. If the latter, you need to be a hunchback to start with, or you soon will be.
Assuming you want to put a desk in it, then put a computer on it and a chair, you're gonna end up smacking your head on the ceiling every time you stand up, guaranteed.
Shame the photos they used are for the non-cedar version; looks like the pine one to me.
As said, build a shed for a lot less money and a lot more functionality.Open One+ BMC TE29 Seven 622SL On One Scandal Cervelo RS0 -
On the same screen there are two links for pods/sheds that look like they would be much better for a small office at half the price.
