Anybody got a pair ?

Im very tempted but a little worried about them not actually supporting the foot properly as they get older and laces and eyelets stretch

  • I understand, from those who own them, the answer is that they do, and they don't.

I would try them on somewhere first. I really wanted them but the shape didn't work with my foot.
  • If you're going to spend that much, why not go for some Dromarti lace-ups?

Very nice. I was tempted by these until I found out that Specialized shoes and me don't get on:

  • I've been using a pair and the laces or eyelets don't stretch. You can get as much support as you want from the laces, I tend to have them slightly tighter for racing and hard training.

As always they may not work for you but they're the best shoes I've ever had and am buying another pair for next year.

Have a few thousand miles on my Empires. No stretching of laces or eyelets. No slip either and never even double knotted them.

  • i really like them, but can't persuade myself that laces would be any good, I quite often have my shoes a bit looser for majority of race, training then crank them up for when it gets real
  • Honestly you won't find a more custom fit than the 7 eyelets on the Empire. Much more of a custom fit than the usual 3 straps/dials.

Ozzy once you get used to tying them you won't need to tighten them mid ride. That's dangerous any way just look at Quintana! :-)
