Hi

Recently bought a Cannondale CAAD8 Sora 56cm frame and have been having problems with the Maddux R3 wheels snapping spokes 2 in 6 weeks. Evans have fixed this but have suggested that at 16.5 stone and 6-1 I may be a little big for the stock wheels that Cannondale put on the bike, personally everyone else I've spoke to says that's rubbish and the wheel has been built poorly. So I've had the wheel retrued and rebuilt and will use this as a turbo wheel.

I have about £200 to spend on a set of wheels, so found these

Kinetic K1

Campagnola scirocco 35

Just wondered what people think

I was 17 stone when I first got my Cannondale, and I suffered the same issue - the stock Maddux rims are pretty shit.

My solution to the same problem as a pair of Fulcrum Racing Quattros. My weight is down a bit now but I still have a seemingly laser-guided affinity for potholes, and I haven't managed to bend one yet.

You should get them well below budget. They're not the lightest wheels but they are fairly deep so have some aero benefit.
  • Why did you bother to spend money on a rebuild to use the wheel on a turbo trainer? People really do strange things these days...

Because they were under warranty and Evans did it. Not with all new spokes just the broken ones and I asked them to check all spokes but it was Evans so who knows how good it is.
