I am willing to be contradicted, but if you mean can you pick up a good deal on a road bike at the Cycle Show, then I'm not sure if you will be able to purchase one there - The only time I went there was a 'market' section that sold stuff (clothing, specs etc), some of it with good discounts, but mostly it's just bike companies showing their wares off.0

This.
You will be able to pick up a few deals on energy stuff, but if you look online you will find them as cheap or cheaper anyway. It's an ok show to mull about for an hour or two and see a load of bikes, it's more interesting for people who want to speak to a smaller manufacturer face to face or for those that want to see lots of £1k-£2k bikes I always thought. It's mostly attended by people that like to walk up to bikes and say 'that's lovely' at every single thing they see and stroke the toptube of every bike they walk up to. If you're like that you will be in your element.0 -

Agree with all that but you've missed out one key point- you have to pick up every bike to see how light it is!0 -

that's true.
Also, when you speak to staff on the stands you have to talk about disc brakes on road bikes and whether they will become the norm, because the staff on the stands love to pretend they want to repetitively discuss this boring sh1t every five minutes for 2 or 3 days solid, each time seeing if they can look as if it is something they have never discussed.0 -

Haha reading that made my day.0 -
I'm glad I can't make it to the NEC this year, apart from the lack of stands selling stuff the food prices are way OTT.I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.0

Save the time, travel costs and entrance fee, plus cost of the ridiculously expensive food, don't go and put that cash towards the cost of your new bike.0
