hello every one so im very new at this so im sorry if i dont make much sense
I recenlty installed a new rear derailleur and new gripshifts and for some reason it will shift down then when i shift back up it has a hard time getting in to 1, so my question is how do i set it up do i have the grip shift set to 1 or 6 befor i attach the wire to derailer,is the big cog gear 1 or is it the small one, and how much tension should i put on the wire befor i tighten the nut because im pulling it very taut, any way i hope some one can help me.

Hi, your post is confusing, to clarify,
You shift up going to smaller cogs at the back which are higher number gears, you can't shift up to 1 only down.
You put it in the smallest cog (6th it would seem) when you attach the cable, having set the stop screws first.

Parktools as above, and did you fit new cables as well, inners and outers?I don't do smileys.
