School Assembly

Talking to my daughter today about the horror of school assemblies ahead of the new term reminded me of an incident way back in 1972 or '3. We were crammed together for a whole school assembly when the silence was broken by a loud belch. You could see the more psychotic teachers getting ready to explode as they scanned the hall for the culprit when the nervous quiet was broken by wretching, spewing and the spattering of vomit on polished parquet - total uproar!

Never found out who the poor soul was, mainly because most of us were speechless with laughter.
