Anyone dismantled a kronolog?

Mine died - there's a shock.
Was searching the Web for solutions but didn't see anything definitive.
Slips down at full extension and creap's up when down. Useless.
Now got a reverb again on mine but was hoping to fix this to put on the fun prevention officers bike
