Changing chainring size - shorten chain too?

I'm thinking of going single-ring, looking at a new Canyon Strive CF 9.0 Race fitted with SRAM X01 with 34t chainring (nice!) :)
I reckon my general fitness is good enough for the gear range when riding Peak District etc., but what if I take the bike abroad, e.g. the Alps? My first thought was then to buy a 'spare' 32t ring and effect a quick change if going somewhere with big hills where I'd appreciate the lower gearing, but would I also need to change the chain? Two teeth doesn't seem much difference...?
Advice appreciated, thanks.

It would be a 'nice to' to change the chain, but unless you are topped out on the rear mech capacity (unlikely) then there is no need to, check the mech capacity using the manual for the part.
Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.
