What bike for £240 budget

Hi guys Iam Steve new to this haven't had a bike for years. looking at maybe these two bike just for weekend riding just the odd path or so nothing to harsh .

Iam looking at the:

B'TWIN Rockrider 500 Mountain Bike

  • With such a restrictive budget you might want to think about secondhand. You'll get more for your money.
    All the gear, no idea and loving the smell of jealousy in the morning.

  • What about a Carrera Subway? You wont need front suspension or discs, so would get more bang for your buck if you went for something with out these features.

    Of the two, the Rockrider is head and shoulders the better bike, but it's not a mountain bike, it will be fine for smooth gravel tracks when the rather fork won't be a liability, but then so would something with a rigid fork like the Subway.

    Or buy used.
    Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.
