Hi,

When in small front big ring and 3rd smallest ring on the rear (39x14 i think)i have noticed a grinding noise but only when i drop a gear down to that ring but when i go down one more gears and go back up to the above gear again than the noise is gone.

Its only happens when dropping a gear from easier to harder but going up from the hard to easy than its fine and sounds great again.

Its Shimano 105 10 speed.

Any idea why this is happening?

Could be the FD rubbing the chain.

    Common problem, easily fixed.

No i checked that and seems to be ok, the alignment also seems ok as well.
  • Check for the cable fraying particularly at the end in the shifter. Make sure your chainring bolts are tight as well as the cassette lockring. Possibly the 14t cog is worn.
