Took my Giant Defy Advanced 2 into the shop at the weekend as it had some suspicious looking marks on it. A bit like cracks (it's only 6 months old)!

It got sent off to Giant for appraisal and they say yes, the frame is cracked.

Good point: They're going to replace the frame
Bad point: They haven't got any in stock and it's going to be a 3 week wait.

Interesting good point, they haven't got any Defy Advanced 2 frames coming in any time soon so they're going to have to replace it with a Defy Advanced 0. As that bike is a grand and a half more than mine, I think I've actually come out ok in this deal!

Bad point, 3 more weeks on the Montague...

Although in saying that, the actual frame is probably exactly the same.

What model year was it? What caused the crack?

T'was a 2014. According to the email from the shop, they didn't even give it a full exam they just authorised the replacement meaning no cause would be looked for.

The cracks went across the frame about an inch above the front derailleur.

They weren't obvious and I only noticed when giving the bike a proper clean and inspection.
