Will probably be racing eldest son around Llandegla next February in the Uber duathlon there, and the last trip around there on the Hutchinson Python's (29x2.2 I think) didn't inspire huge confidence in me on the looser stuff. Given that Feb is likely to be even more slippery than I experienced last weekend, any recommendations of a good value (ideally less than £20 for 2, I know - cheapskate!) 29er tyre that should offer me a little more confidence as I see him disappearing off into the distance? He loves the Panaracer Rampage tyres which I think cooldad recommended last year for him.

I suppose I'm looking for something a bit more knobbly than I've got at the moment.

Have seen these:-

Not very knobby at all - might work on hardpack, but will be rubbish in mud.
No idea about 29er tyres, but glad he's finding the Rampages OK - they're even cheaper now, under £15 each. Serious bargain.

Cheers. How about Mountain Kings from Conti (29x2.2) - not really needed for too much mud, most of Llandegla is hardpack though there are some rooty sections.

Or perhaps I should just practice more...
