jockey wheel pulley bolt

So I was cleaning the jockey wheels and lucky me one of them fell down and bounced onto the floor and rolled in the drain
So I am using a water bottle bolt, which is also M5 but it is a tiny bit shorter (probably a mm less) whilst still holds it together it doesn't protrude slightly like the proper ones. Is this ok? Should I get a proper one? or a longer one?
Cheers,
Gabriel

As long as the jockey wheel is still spinning freely. The two plates squeeze the central spindle and the wheel rotates around it so I think it would be nigh on impossible to over tighten. I just hope that you have enough thread in the cover plate so that it doesn't loosen.

well, freely, yes. As freely as it can run really, it is 6 years old. I did run the chain through it a few times and it looked ok.
Saw those thank you , but thought they were quite expensive so found them here instead:
