Manchester 100 - What to expect?

Doing this for the first time this year. Am I correct in assuming that due to the large numbers of participants and the flat course that there will be the opportunity to ride in large groups? My last charity ride was a somewhat lonely affair! Not that I don't like riding alone, I'm just looking forward to the odd 'peloton' for a change.

I did it last year, firstly its very flat. I have done other sportives where I have ended up by myself for many a mile, that is not an issue here you will always be near others. You do get the odd idiot riding in a crazy fashion but nowhere near the nightmare that is the Manchester/Blackpool. You will also get the odd group of club cyclists in peloton formation thinking they on a grand tour and the dogs danglies, they show you little respect and give you little room, just be wary of them.
If I did it again I would not start to near the front as all you will get is faster cyclists going for a time passing you.
Last bit of advice, it took an eternity to get off the park with the car after the event so either cycle there or park a mile or so away and cycle to the start.0 -
Thanks for the detailed reply and the tip about setting off and parking. Looks like a wont be riding alone then. If the weather is as predicted it should be a good ride. Cheers.0

Pretty much +1 to all of above.
Did it last year and doing it this Sunday.
It's a nice ride round Cheshire and with nearly 4000 riders you should have plenty of company
As far as I remember , non of the feed stations are free, so take your own food and or some money to top up!Statistically, 6 out of 7 dwarves are not happy.0
