Closed for 5 months (apparently - the blurb says to January but a mate called them and was told 5 months - so probably actually 7) from 8th September - just thought I'd share. No doubt the road surface will be even worse than before.

That's what I thought!www.conjunctivitis.com - a site for sore eyes0 -
sigh... that's on my route, must be a better way than the A217, I'd only cycle the full length between Tadworth and the motorway if I wanted to die, guess it's time to get some off road tyres
btw if you think Pebble Hill Road is bad try cycling down Gatton Bottom, absolutely terrifying0 -
Damn that's my cycle commuting route. Had seen a sign from the car without reading it properly.0

You'll probably find that cycles will still be able to get through - after all there are houses on the "closed" section, and the residents will certainly want to get in/out.0
-
Apparently not - that's why my mate contacted them originally and was given a flat "no" to his question about being able to get through by bike. Mind you he was also told that residents the wrong side of the works would have to follow the (10 mile) diversion to get to the station - whether that's just some jobsworth at the water co being officious I don't know. You'd like to think common sense would apply, but I suppose depends on how much of the road is actually dug up.CS7

Still worth a look see on a bike. Maybe week days it is a no no - but at the weekend - will they be working ? I don't think I've found a road to be impassable before.0
