New to MTB

Hi guys,
I'm looking to get back into cycling after many years of not having a bicycle to ride. Long story short my Dad drove over my bike one night after I left it on the ground when I was 12
Since then I have never owned or cycled a bike. Now I'm 24, I'm looking to get back into some of my old hobbies. I've always been interested in mountain biking from watching videos of it on YouTube.
What kind of MTB bike would be a good beginners bike to start riding? Any particular models you guys know of? I'm looking for a good entry-level bike that doesn't break the bank. Thanks
Dave

Say something under £500 but I am willing to go a bit higher if it's not realistic budget for a good entry-level bike0 -

Anyone know where I can view a 2014 Kona Mahuna in the UK?? Just looking at the offical photos of the bike and it looks pretty awesome. But I'd rather see it in person before I make any purchase0

Probably worth a trip to Halfords: http://www.halfords.com/cycling/bikes/m ... 13-2014-20
They have the Bantu down to £320 as well0 -

I've been sick with the flu since last week so I haven't been out much outside of the bed
I may take a trip to Halfords soon to have a poke around. Thanks for the heads up!0 -
I've been looking around and found these 3 mountain bikes that seem to be within my budget:

Any thoughts on these bikes? I quite like the VooDoo Hoodoo but Diamondback Descent 29R looks pretty nice too.0 -
Diamondback has a terrible fork.
Voodoo has a good fork.

Nevermind. Upon further inspection, that other link was for a child's bike anyway. No wonder it was so cheap. Oops sorry
But yeah I'm loving the look of VooDoo0
